A schoolboy scared away a pack of hungry wolves by playing a heavy metal song at them.
The music of U.S. band Creed halted the pack as they closed in on Walter Eikrem.
He played their song Overcome on his mobile phone and the snarling animals turned and fled.
Saviour: The American band Creed saved a 13-year-old Norwegian boy's life after their music scared off a pack of wolves
Walter, 13, was walking home from the school bus stop in the town of Rakkestad, Norway, to his farmhouse home when the wolves appeared.
He said: ‘I thought at first it was the neighbour’s dogs, but then as I got nearer I saw their yellow eyes and their fangs.
‘The worst thing you can do is turn and flee. So I pulled out my phone, turned it on to the loudest setting, and played them Creed. The wolves looked baffled, then they simply turned and trotted off.’
His mother told the local paper that she was going to pick her son up from school because she knew there were wolves in the area, but she got carried away shopping, German newspaper Der Spiegel reported.
'I have a completely guilty conscience,' she said.
'The previous evening, we saw three wolves on the edge of the forest when we were putting our horses in their stall. The horses were panicky.'
Creed is an American rock band formed in 1993 in Tallahassee, Florida.
Becoming popular in the late 1990s and early 2000s, the band has released three consecutive multi-platinum albums, and has sold 26 million records in the U.S. and an estimated 35 million records worldwide.
