I'm from New Zealand and this is horse shit.
There is currently a Monarchy vs Republic debate. i.e Do we become an independent nation or stay as part of the monarchy.
I haven't put a lot of thought into it but I'm probably for Republic. I don't think there is anything substantial to gain by being part of the monarchy. I don't think it makes any actual difference tbh. But people will get a sense of pride if you are an independent nation. So I guess for that reason alone I don't see why we don't change. What are your views?

I very much doubt New Zealanders would ever want to leave the British Commonwealth to become part of the US. The majority in the polls are very happy having the Queen as the head of state.
