A federal judge has sentenced an Oakland executive to three years in prison and ordered him to pay $15,000 to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children as result of his conviction for possession of child pornography.
Raymond "Beau" Carter, 61, is scheduled to serve his term at the federal correctional complex in Butner, N. C., where he will be required to participate in a sex offender treatment program, Assistant U.S. Attorney David Gappa said. He was sentenced Monday.
Carter was arrested in September 2003 for allegedly using the Internet to arrange a meeting in Turlock (Stanislaus County) to attempt to commit lewd and lascivious acts with two minor females and their custodian, Gappa said.
At the time of his arrest, Carter had been employed as the executive director for the Integrated Health Care Association of California, Gappa said. He pleaded guilty Sept. 6.
