Would YOU rather be in prison or be homeless?
Well, it's a theoretical question... In practice, you'd have to ask, further, HOW & WHY you became homeless, and HOW & WHY you were sent to prison... And then ask yourself; which type of person would I rather be?
But let's say we skip that step... --> Homeless.
<< Prison is force. You are restricted from doing X, required to do Y, for Z amount of time.
<< Being homeless sucks, obviously, but... say I was forced out of my apartment tomorrow... stripped of all my cash... let's say I lose my connections to all the people I know in the whole world... In other words, I would not have any regular self-contained 'substantial' unit of accommodation (as defined by English law), and not have any direct ways of achieving such.
--> In which situation could I most likely use my abilities to change my current situation?? Assuming my mental state isn't fucked up, or that I'm addicted to alcohol/heavy drugs (which this theoretical example doesn't state), I could turn to Governmental assistance programs. My skills and knowledge are not lost because of the fact that I've become homeless.
--)) At its core, being homeless (extreme poverty) is a lack of financial resources.
--)) Whilst incarceration is the limitation of/restriction from using your abilities to create/do anything for yourself for Z amount of time.

But again... this is "in theory"... In practice, there are reasons as to why you become homeless or sent to Prison... This situation might be of more interest to reflect on, and how you would go about helping these people under different circumstances...
