Terrorism usually has a reason behind it, Rev. The reason it's terrorism is because it usually involves a lot of civilian casualties that are not directly responsible for whatever problem the terrorists are targeting. The deaths are not justified, in other words. The War on Terror is most definitely detrimental to not only the American society, but the world at large. It has given justification for illegal invasions, spawned countless civilian deaths abroad, and compromised civil liberties domestically. Is it worth it? No, I don't think so. I feel like the best way to avoid future terror plots is to stop involving ourselves in foreign political struggle, not to increase involvement. The people that attack our soldiers overseas are the same people we armed with American weapons during the cold war to stave off Soviet expansion. For the sake of our people and others, the United States needs to decrease involvement in the Middle East.
