I have a kinda complicated relationship with 9/11. It was a tragic day of course, but it was a happy day for my family. Me and my brother got to go back to my mom after being separated for 3 years. I was already with my mom for a few days before but that was the day I got to see my brother again after about a year I think. It's a long story. Anyway, I remember seeing the news story later on that day.

I was walking to my bus leaving elementary school and remembered people just freaking the hell out really suddenly, it was really sad honestly. I remember all of my teachers not knowing what the hell to do.

I was in school and my teacher got a call from her husband who was away for business in New York and she took a minute with a call outside of class and she seemed a little distressed. Finally when she collected herself we asked what was wrong and she tried to explain as lightly as possible, her explanation was so vague but we were just kids so it was best she wasn't completely forward with us so she wouldn't frighten us.

On my way home I saw some fighter jets which was cool to see at the time. I also remember being pissed because they didn't air my cartoons after school, they had the news on instead. Now keep in mind I was unaware of the degree of the situation lol I was not an insensitive, heartless child... wasn't until later that night when I knew how tragic this really was.

Of course, none of us had a firm grasp on what was happening as we were just children. I remember being sad about it, though

I was in in school, Primary 3 & the teacher I had at the time was from Canada & her sister died in 9/11.
It was scary stuff. Even as a 6 year old I could tell that it was a huge disaster which would change a lot of stuff

I was in class in grade 7 and the teacher showed us a newspaper the day after this shit happened.

I was an 11-year-old in sixth grade. I walked into, IIRC, my fourth period class and overheard my teacher say that she was afraid her brother had died in New York (he ended up being okay). I remember my older sister saying something to the effect of this was a day we would never forget.

I got a wake-up call, as I had never even heard of places like Pakistan.

On a slightly lighter note, gas shot up to $2 a gallon right after this, and my parents got angered by this. If only is was $2 now.
