Menzo hasn't been paying full attention to TR because I made him into my little cockboi.
It's not gay though.

It seems like all the good cartoons get chopped down too early.

i wasn't a fan of south park until the last 4 seasons or so. it's like they were relying on shock value alone until then.Trimss wrote:I thought the new South Park episodes have been quite good.
right no i understood what they were doing, i just wasn't the target audience given that it didn't shock me. i'm not a 40 year old conservative white lady feel me? whereas these recent seasons have been really fun and enjoyable for me.True Wiz wrote:Elision wrote:i wasn't a fan of south park until the last 4 seasons or so. it's like they were relying on shock value alone until then.Trimss wrote:I thought the new South Park episodes have been quite good.
That's what South Park was about though. It was made to be a big fuck you to the television industry. Why do you think Trey and Matt dropped LSD and wore dresses to the Oscars?
no no trust me i love and appreciate gritty, especially when it comes to video-related media. i find that usually shittier = realer, i've always had a weird attachment to the original batch of shit ass adult swim shows like home movies and space ghost etc. and i'd much rather watch a 15 minute unedited video of a guy rambling about his day into a webcam on youtube than some over-produced scripted 1080p hipster 4 inches from the camera listing his top 10 whateverthefuck. in fact i avoid almost anything that feels over-produced and plastic, haven't payed for cable for the better part of a decade and been running adblock since its origin, and i avoid radio like the plague.True Wiz wrote:CanadaPure wrote:I don't fully agree with Elisions opinion but I do find the first couple of seasons to be pretty boring with Southpark. They have their moments but it's pretty take it or leave it 'meh' for me.
I think it was the lack of production value. The audio sounded so dry, it was almost impossible to be funny.

in family guy's defense it's a lot more intellectually stimulating than the original seasons of south park. southpark relies almost solely on juvenile vulgarity for its first like 5 seasons or so, which unless you're easily-offended/shocked or around to laugh at someone who is, it loses its value completely because nobody over the age of 8 actually finds things like mr. hanky funny. it's just the "they really took the time to do this" factor which means nothing in the youtube era. family guy on the other hand, after they got picked up from the initial cancellation in like 99 has been on a gradual incline ever since, at least for me. family guy's writers are good at those jokes that creep up on you half way through the next scene and make you rewind the shit, that's always been something i appreciated about the showStayWideAwake wrote:CanadaPure wrote:I don't fully agree with Elisions opinion but I do find the first couple of seasons to be pretty boring with Southpark. They've just fine tuned the show so much since then. It was a lot more simplistic. I disagree about it being a "shock value" show up until the last 4 seasons. It's almost always been well thought out if you pay attention. That's what separates it from Family Guy. Family Guy is stupid jokes just for the sake of being stupid.
