Kill You, you are easily pleased from Eminem my friend, Bad Guy is a classic track, but when it comes to story telling, that was executed very much better on Stan.

Nah it's not that, Bad Guy is more of a rap track to me and that's what I like from Em. Stan is a little "soft" for me. As a storytelling track yeah Stan is better because that's all it is, is a storytelling track. Bad Guy is storytelling + more of a rap song in my eyes. Bad Guy is epic to me.

I must be easily pleased because I don't nitpick the music and just enjoy it... :coffee: (not a jab at you)

by your logic, the more aggressive a rap song is, the better it is overall...

NO SEQUEL IS BETTER THAN AN ORIGINAL, to each his own browski, when i finally understood Stan (years ago) i was baffled for days, and to this day, the way the conversational tone is conveyed, it's a once in a lifetime thing.

Actually, Bad Guy is a better story telling song in the real sense of the word.

Imo, his aggressive or funny tracks >>>>>> his serious tracks. I listen to "Shady" songs more than "Eminem" songs.

Different strokes for different folks though, that's why I keep stressing that it's my opinion.

Both songs are amazing. It's just my opinion, but I like Stan more and it's better maybe, because I've listened to it more and understood the meaning of it. I mean it's still too early IMO to be comparing these two songs really haven't listened to bad guy enough to put it over one of Eminem's best songs that is Stan.

"Story-telling" is telling a story. There is no "real" sense of the word.

Both "Stan" and "Bad Guy" are story-telling tracks, yes, but, Eminem chose to tell the stories in different ways on each song. "Stan" progresses the story through dialogue while "Bad Guy" progresses it through actions. "My Fault" would be mix of both.

The reason I don't believe BG > Stan is because the way Eminem told BG. Also, some lines - especially "like I reached my full potential, I peaked" - sound stupid when Matthew could have just said it straight up like in Stan.

I get what Kill You is saying about BG being more of a rap song but that's because Eminem is talking more to the listener than he is talking to Eminem, unlike in Stan.

Meh, real/traditional, following a sequence of events.
Good point though, there aren't any set in stone formats for storytelling.

Why? Stan doesn't necessarily hit with everyone...I was honestly more taken aback and pleased with Bad Guy on first listen...sorry bro. Stan is a bit overrated imo.

Man I'm liking this guy more and mroe  :flower:

I love bad guy... however even tho i usually skip stan if i'm shuffling em, i have to say its better than Bad guy. Was listenin to BG on the bus yesterday and at the part of the song where its sampling older songs i get dissapointed when it goes back to bad guy, which much say something.

Wait... Where did it sample things? I don't think the desperados was a sample :confusion:

tbh, I didn't like the second verse on Bad Guy too much.

The fourth verse is great though. :y:

You can rate a song based on:
wordplay & lyricism [Stan]
content [Stan]
originality (of content)[Stan]
flow (has an effect on wordplay)[Stan]
beat [Bad Guy]
innovation (different than originality, its more focused on the details and such) [Stan]

Stan is a defining moment in hip hop and also stands the test of time as one of the greatest story telling tracks of all time. This was also one of the first times we got a peak at the human reality that is Marshall Mathers.

Bar none.
