50 Cent plans to release the movie "Before I Self Destruct" on the same day as his fourth solo album of the same title. The movie will be directed and also produced by the rapper. He recently spoke about in an interview and stressed that the movie was not an autobiography but more of an urban themed one.....but with a twist.
“When [movies] portray certain lifestyles they don’t show cause and effect,” 50 explained. "I showed characters under pressure in scenarios where they felt like there were no other options, even though there were. There are always options. People just usually start to see them while being incarcerated — for not seeing them in the first place.”
He said that the soundtrack and album would not have any of the same material. For the soundtrack, 50 says he gave unsigned artists some opportunity by letting them record their material and said he did that so that Interscope would not have any rights to the movie soundtrack.
“It’s not Purple Rain,” 50 said.“But it was inspired by the actual music...I kept the music up to standards....I worked with it until it was right.”
This will be 50's last contractual album obligation to Interscope. Before I Self Destruct, the movie and the album, will be released on December 9th.
