Modest Mouse

Anyone else into Modest Mouse?

I've got four Modest Mouse albums, and I'd say my favorite would have to be either We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank, or Good News for People Who Love Bad News.

Bury Me With It (One of my Favorites):

didn't think I would find another fan on a rap site :o

I would have to say

1. Good News for People Who Love Bad News
2. The Lonesome Crowded West
3. We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank

and they had a EP come out in august called No One's First and You're Next. It was fucking awesome, king rat is ultra epic

Lonesome was good, but I might go so far as to list it after The Moon and Antarctica. Although, I think Lonesome was a better punk type album, whereas The Moon and Antarctica was more Space-Rock/Experimental.

No One's First and You're Next was something I was thinking of checking out, but I want an LP, damn it!

That's probably the worst song off of Good News for People Who Love Bad News...not a bad song, but definitely nothing to love, lol. It's all good, it was the single that really did it for them, so whatever.

...

Oh, and FUCK Johnny Marr.

Sorry, but he bounced on Modest Mouse!

C'mon man, how are you going to leave Modest Mouse for The Cribs!? Don't get me wrong, I respect Johnny Marr, but what the fuck? The new guy should be good though, the guitarist from a group called Grandaddy, or something like that.

I don't have a whole lot against Marr though...not like that bastard Morissey. I hate that motherfucker.

Well at least with a new guitarist, we get a new sound of the next album. :b:

Gotta go check out Grandaddy

Yeah, it's messed up, right?

I agree though, it's probably for the best. No One's First and Your Next was the last Johnny Marr project, I believe. It's no matter though, with a vocalist like Isaac, Modest Mouse will live on.

Just picked up a new Modest Mouse album, A Long Drive for Some One With Nothing to Think About (I think that's the title anyway... ) and it's not too bad. It came out before Lonesome Crowded West, and it's got a similar sound. However, one song does stand out as one of my favorite Modest Mouse songs yet, and that one is:

Anyone else have this album?

It's not that I don't like mellow rock, it's just I can't get into this particular band.
I saw them on tv playing Float On and I thought "really? They're THAT popular playing this kind of music??
I tried to get into it, I really did. I borrowed GNFPWLBN from someone and listened to the whole thing.
It just didn't happen for me.

The Lonesome Crowded West
The Moon and Antarctica

We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank

No One's First and You're Next

Oh Jesus...

Yeah, luckily I didn't start listening to them until long after the whole "Float On" time period...I love that album (Bury Me With It!!!) but it's not my favorite...

Honestly, if you ever get a chance, borrow (or steal) We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank. I honestly think that's their best album. However, if you're not into their style, you probably won't like it either...

The Moon and Antarctica is a different style though: More experimental because Isaac broke his jaw and wasn't sure if he was going to be able to record....

I like this one off of that album:

^ I think you might like that song better than all of GNFPWLBN, GGGG.

Yeah, I checked it out and it's not bad.
It reminds me of The Pixies (who I like).
Yes, I do like this more than what I've heard.
I might borrow the MAA album and listen to that.
