Oldies...

Postby Emadyville » Apr 14th, '10, 07:30

Does anybody have a bunch of oldies on their itunes, like good classic oldies, cause I'm trying to download a bunch and I'd know the good ones to hear them but can't think of the song names or artists.

good ones I do remember (small list I know):
American Pie-Don McClean
Buttercup-??
Sweet Home Alabama-Skynrd
Free Bird-Skynrd

That's all I can think of :sweating:

Edit: I guess names of songs/artists or whatever, but if you know somewhere to download oldies I'd appreciate that also.

Those aren't oldies, dude, that's classic rock.
Oldies is like The Pointer Sisters, Betty Everett, The Big Bopper, Buddy Holly, The Ronettes, etc., stuff like that.

If you like classic rock like that, check

The Kinks - "Lola"
Steve Miller Band - "The Joker"
The Doobie Brothers - "Black Water"
David Essex - "Rock on"
Led Zeppelin - "D'yer Mak'er" (pronounced JAH MAKE UH, like Jamaica)
Pink Floyd - "Us and Them"
Fleetwood Mac - "The Chain"
Stevie Nicks - "Edge of Seventeen"
Alice Cooper - "I'm Eighteen"
Uriah Heep - "Lady in Black"
John Lennon - "Working Class Hero"
Kiss - "Hard Luck Woman"

That sounds like enough to get started. Hope you enjoy!

I love Be My Baby, but I prefer The Shoop Shoop Song by Betty Everett.

Check "The Chain" if you haven't.
It has Stevie and it's a better song.

Yeah I was talking to my roommate about this, what I said was more classic rock, I meant more in general I guess, and also in terms of being older songs, sorry I wasn't more specific, i just remember my dad always listened to oldies stations and those are mostly what I want, the ones I mentioned were ones that came to mind, not knowing song titles or artist at all.

Thank you all for suggestions, I appreciate it, and when I get more I'll list them also :y:

Anything buy the Beatles, Zeppelin, Rush, Pink Floyd, The Doors, Frank Zappa and Parliament/Funkadelic.

But specifics, check out the Headhunters album by Herbie Hancock from 1973. It's a 4-track jazz/fusion masterpiece. Watermelon Man and Chameleon are my favourites from it.

Watermelon Man - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jo5GcYeh7XA
Chameleon (part 1) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6jPq8-eYvM
Chameleon (part 2) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFw5_rw3 ... re=related
