Hiphopdane wrote:In my opinion 10/10 is as wrong as Pitchfork's 3/10 or whatever it was simply because he lyrically hasn't moved on (well not much). When you make corny radio songs like Love the way you lie and pointless tracks like So bad you don't deserve a 10.

So Bad is a bitches & hoes song, but it's still got a point.

I think the corny radio song you're referring to is Not Afraid, not Love The Way You Lie, which is a well-written, haunting song about domestic abuse by two people who have experienced it in some form or another

What point? Personally thought it was quite inane.

Love the way you lie is well written (story telling and rhyme wise), I just found the topic quite corny. The window pane line was a nail in the coffin in my opinion.

The only annoying thing about Not afraid, if you ask me, is the downtalking of Relapse. I got used to the beat and the singing on that particular track was never really an issue for me. Maybe the "feed it beans"-line was a bit lame.

So because they already know it's bad I have to like it? And I don't have the right to critizise it?

If only he would rap his hooks or let some more singers do the job, the album would have been better.

Obviously he did the hook on YNO because he wanted the song to be personal. Probably why he didn't make his voice sound perfect afterwards, so it was genuine.

You find a song about domestic violence cornier than that awful bridge in NA?

I thought that worked well on Haillies song but it was annoying on You're never over imo.

Forgot the bridge and chorus of Not afraid.
I don't think Not afraid and You're never over are bad tracks. There are just parts of them that I don't like.

i just wanted to say what the post above ^^ says. It was deliberate and if it makes it bad for you , it does.but it had the opposite effect on me.
The hook i didn't like was the "cold wind blows" one.didn't like his singing therei

The point being that Eminem is a player. An unoriginal point to the song, sure, but a point nonetheless, which is what I was disputing (you said it was pointless).

Fair enough. I just find it a bit lame when there is so many topics out there that rappers have yet to touch.
