For the 1st time listening, these are my ratings:
DN - 10/10
D12 World - 8/10
I like the song "My Band" only because of D12's ability to make fun of themselves, which a lot of rappers seem to not be able to handle (cough kanye cough). Lyrically, it's not quite on what one would expect from Eminem, but it's still pretty good. I have the same thoughts about Encore (excluding a few songs like Big Weenie etc.). It's not up to one would think Eminem's standards are, but it's still ok, plus it's hilarious. The first time I heard Encore, as it got to the part in Rain Man where it goes "Goddamnit Dre where's the goddamn beat (yeah)" I honestly burst out laughing. So, compared to the rest of Eminem's catalogue, no, My Band (and Encore) aren't too good, but they're funny, so that has to count for something.
Everyone else's verses on it were pretty good, nothing too special, nothing too bad.. The acapella part and "bridge" are hilarious though.
Devil's Night is a classic in my eyes. Eminem in his post-MMLP prime, D12 in their prime, damn. Songs range from funny to angry, and the beats are
.
I would say Devil's Night is better than D12 World. There're a couple good songs on it, but other songs I just despise (like 40 Oz.). I like Just Like U (but mostly just the beginning with the choir and then the hook), Loyalty is ok, My Band is alright (but again, in a comedic sense), 6 In The Morning is sick (even though it had leaked a year previous), D-12 World is good, and How Come is sick. Good Die Young is by far the greatest song on the album just because da feels. Like, really, damn. Also, the bonus tracks Keep Talkin is dopeee.
I literally love every song on Devil's Night other than Nasty Mind (idk, could just never get into that). I also love "These Drugs" and "Words are Weapons" is a personal favorite just in general.
