Beastie boys were amazing for their time,
Remember that in their prime, barely anyone had combined punk and rap the amazing way that BB did on LTI, their party attitude and funny/exciting storytelling was unmatched at that time too,
Also, paul's boutique had instrumentals in it that would craft the trap music that hip hop would end up becoming with their use of 808s and hi hats!
On top of that they were the first real popular white rappers,
Say what you want about them, but they heavily crafted hip hop into what it is today...

The Beasties were doing things in rap literally decades ahead of their time.

They were the crazy white boy(s) before Eminem.
Transcended the race barrier.
Pioneers of rap in general, along with mixing hip-hop with punk and rock and roll.
Not only where they rappers, they were also talented musicians who sang and played instruments regularly.
The instrumentals were years ahead of their time, and the production of Paul's Boutique is still often to this day considered some of the most intricate in the history of the genre.
Literally built the founding for almost everything we listen to today. Almost every big time rapper was influenced by the Beastie Boys in some way or another


As far as not liking them, that's most likely adapting your taste to the sound because of how harsh it is--that goes for any old hip-hop album, though, for me anyway.
