Music Theory question

how can we differentiate some sharps from flats??
like for instance, if someone say C sharp Major scale, wouldn't it be the same as D flat major scale??

or just that like C sharp & D flat... or G sharp & A flat do they have different uses or??

I asked my teacher, but hmm... I quite didn't understood him.

I'll be honest man, I didn't pay attention in music class, but I do know that in singing, people sing in minors, majors, sharps (most notably in to the classic quartet B sharp) and flats..They also sing in Arabic tones too..The scales and styles of rhythm progression really refer to the area of pitch which vocals and rhythm is played around.

It is truly confusing actually..I've never really understood it.
I'd rather just make music without knowing what tone I'm singing in.

I'm just confused because some notes seem to be written in different ways while being the same note, so thats why I'm kinda confused about

Well, you know how on a guitar there is a power chord with like 2 or 3 strings?
Well there is also another spot on the guitar where you can achieve the same note as well.
Like mixing around and going a octave down and hitting a # note but you are in different tuning or string position..
That's sorta the same thing with voice harmonies man.
Each voice is a string metaphorically speaking.
That's why the same sounding notes have a different name.

and what about piano??

the same accidental is for C# as well as Db

Piano is a bit different actually lol...
You can't really get the same note twice unless you are pressing one key and then 3 in the right spot..
