Well jeez, aren't you just full of patriotism

I bet that bombing in Hiroshima was damn well worth it too right? U.S soldiers did stop dying afterfall

Fuckin retard :facepalm

And as for the thread, it's not really a war anymore but more of a battle against the Muslim extremist groups, it's been ongoing for like 8 years if I recall and obviously progession has slowed down drastically. Canadian's are really pissed off about it, they've tried to recall their troops but NATO is making them stay until 2014 :(

The bombings on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were completely justified. Why should hundreds of thousands of American troops die trying to end a war which was caused by Japanese aggression in the first place? That is certainly not just the bombing of Pearl Harbour but the aggression which they showed throughout Asia and even into Australia. New Zealand, where I live, would have been invaded if not for American intervention. If American troops had tried to invade Japan the number who would have died would have been far more. Over 200,000 people died at the Battle of Okinawa ( a tiny island compared to Japan) and that was about the same number who died when the atomic bombs were dropped.

As for Afghanistan, we are really in an unwinnable position. I believe that it is fair justification to fight a war when a government commits unspeakable acts of evil on its people. It would be good to stay there until we can guarantee fair democracy and personal freedom for the people of Afghanistan. However, Afghanistan is such a corrupt and disorganized country that it could take 50 years to achieve and we don't want to stay there indefinitely. I think within five years we really have to pull out and let them deal with their own future. Al Qaeda is no longer an excuse for being there as ther eare less than 1000 Al Qaeda in the country. Those who do want immediate withdrawl of American troops should realise that that will lead to the taliban returning. There aren't too many more horrible people around than those in the Taliban.

Not to mention, under Japanese occupation thousands of East Asians were still dying. The people who question the morality of the atomic bombings need to google 'Rape of Nanking'.

The fact that it took TWO bombs--not one--to get the Japanese to surrender shows how insane the military government of Japan was at the time.

And now the thread's about WW II, lol.

And the war in Afghanistan has been on the news every other day for so long now, that I don't really care when I read "Two people dead in suicide bombing". And that's sad. When you become immune. Exact same thing with the Israel / Palestine war. It's a part of everyday life.

In england soldiers dieing isnt front page news now, which shows just how 'immune' people are. No-one knows whats going on out there apart from the people who are out there. And besides, everyone is talking about Lybia now, Afghan seems to have been forgotten :(

I don't think it's forgotten. And the situation in Lybia right now is far worse than in Afghanistan, I think. But what do I know. Of course it's bad there too, but it's fucking chaos in Lybia.

the thing is, the Lybian army are shite and NATO or the UN or whoever could kick their arses, but the rebels dont want us to fight for them, and Obama is saying he wants to just stop the fighting by being in Lybia, not by fighting anyone. (im 15 years old, so if bits of that arent quite right i have an excuse  )
