when you write a rap?

how do you do,
do you find all kinda words you wanna fit in a line, and then write words that rhyme with it down on paper, and then put it all together to a line?
or do you just make it all up in your head?

and when you make a punchline, wft do you do?
is there some kinda right way to do it?

this might seem confusing or stupid, but lately when i try to write a rap i sometimes find it easier to write the rhyming words down, but is there an easier method to do it?

One thing you can do is listen to some lyrical rappers [not necessarily],search for there lyrics and listen to them while reading them ,this will help you a lot ,believe me .

Basically what Geno said. I usually come up with a random first line or two and then go from there. Just think of a few words that rhyme with the last word of that random line and see what you can connect with that idea. And that idea should inspire you to come up with a new (and now not-so-random) line and it goes that way. The more you write and try to freestyle (even if it is only in your mind) the easier it will get to come up with rhymes, ideas and connect them.

And look up the definitions of some figures of speech such as metaphors, similes, double entendres, personification, along with the meaning of multisyllabic and internal rhymes so that you have a good info to start with.

When I'm walking about my day, just doing whatever, I look at things for new words and ideas that I might not have thought of when I'm at home writing my song. For example, if I'm walking in the city, I'd be staring at skyscrapers. How often does the phrase "staring at skyscrapers" pop into your head? Not very often, so you might use that, you know?

Also, about freestyling, I always try to pick up objects when I'm bored and think of rhymes off the top of my head. Say I pick up a set of keys, I'd try freestyling with that. Keeps you sharper when you sit down to write.

And (@M&M59) when you watch some movie or play some video game try to come up with some reference lines and something that rhymes with it along the way. Like, when I watched the last Harry Potter movie, I said something like: "I'm so scary, Voldemort calls me you-know-who". Just a simple example, not everything will be extra clever.
