Where is Sega in all this?

A thought crossed my mind just now...Sega's last system was the Dreamcast, fuckin' so long ago I don't even remember exactly what age I was when it came out. All I remember was getting that and Sonic Adventure for Christmas and fucking playing that shit all the time. I miss Sega when they were such a huge, prominent part of the gaming industry.

So, with these next-gen consoles coming out, Sega has a chance to bounce back. Well, they could if they really wanted to. But Nintendo pretty much has their mascot, Sonic the Hedgehog...do you guys think Sega should drop another system? Dreamcast was good, it just didn't sell shit. Would you buy another Sega system? Something tells me I'm being a dumb ass with this thread but I'm 100% serious.

but technically the xbox is segas spiritual successor.
The way the first xbox had an hdd, or internet was based off of an outline done by sega.

the first xbox was almost made to play old dreamcast games via backwards compatibility.

Sega simply wasn't up to par. SNES crushed Genesis. Saturn was a huge flop, and pressured them to release the ill fated Dreamcast, which was both undercut by PS1/N64's install-base and overshadowed by PS2's technical prowess. I see no return for them and question why they were there in the first place.

Also, aside from Capcom, Sega may very well be the worst major video game developing company with so many Sonic shovelwares.
