For me, it's all about getting those starting lines, write the first 2-4 lines without the beat, than go back and go along to the beat. More than likely, you'll have to add/cut some parts of each bar, but once you get those first few down, you get an idea of how long each bar should be and the flow of the beat, every few lines, go back and go along with the beat until you finish, a little editing here and there along the way.

That's how I do it.

Tap your feet to the beat. Once you think you got it, every four taps is a bar.

One line in normal verse structure is a bar. 16 bars is a normal verse.

There are usually two snares in a bar. Four every two bars.

____snare_____snare
____snare_____snare

Try and write so you're flowing to the snares (it's much easier this way, more complex flows can come later).

So like, for example

....A....B
....A....B

Rhyme schemes hit the snares.
