Not even close to as bad as saying Jay Electronica on Control was better than Kendrick and all of Rap God lol

Lol why? Kill You's post is an aggressive attack with misinterpreted pretenses. That's just me saying that I like a rap verse more than other rap verses. I mean, Jay Electronica was great so it's at least arguable. Don't think that's a bad post at all.. The only reason I included Rap God was because it was in the midst of the overreaction it got when it was released lol.

The thread.. it's alive!

Feel free to. :y:

Good idea.

I knew the post would evoke responses like this and I wouldn't have posted it otherwise but again, I think it's at least arguable. I think that verse is great so it's not like I'm putting either of those verses down lol. I think Kendricks control verse and Rap God were both kind of overrated for similar reasons so that's why I grouped them together. It was intended to be a provocative post in response to another similar post but it did correctly reflect my thoughts on those songs at the time.

So yeah I don't necessarily think the post was bad lol

Yeah that's why I said they were overrated for similar reasons. Anyone can mention names.. It took balls but not really something that makes a verse great. The verse was pretty good but not worthy of the praise it got. It obviously overshadowed Jay Electronica because of the buzz surrounding it but I think Jay had the best verse on the song. Similarly with Rap God, the overwhelming response it got was mostly because of how fast he was rapping/his technical ability and I think that's a superficial way of looking at a song. It IS impressive technically (although there are times when I think he sounds unnatural which counteracts that), but as a song I don't think it deserved the praise it's getting. But I'm not dismissing Rap God or Kendricks verse on Control. Kendrick was good, and I think Rap God is a lot better than Survival and probably Berzerk. I just think they're both examples of overreactions for superficial reasons and I don't think that's irrational at all.

So yeah my post > kill you's tbhtbhtbht bth

that's another discussion altogether because I think rhyming is overrated and one of the easier aspects to writing rap songs. If you're going to write a song that relies completely on rhyming and other technical aspects you better do it perfectly, and even then the ceiling for the song is lower than a song that focuses more on lyrics. You can master fast rapping and rhyming and stuff with practice, shit is like math. That's not to say Rap God is a Crooked I song, though. There are some good lyrics that elevate the song (and some garbo that bring it down).

The "superficial" part of my post was mostly regarding the very early reaction. If you read that thread when it was released you'll see people calling it goat before they even knew what he was saying; their reactions were based on how Eminem's rapping sounded.

Change the thread title mate, nothing says appreciating lyrics more than highlighting a bunch of rhymes.

Ok, everybody, shut the hell up. If you don't like this topic, stay out of it, and let those who wants to highlight rhymes and such do it. It's that simple.

I'm not sure what the point of this was. He and I are now having a perfectly normal discussion. He knew it would rile people up whether he believed it or not. Who cares. He moved on to make a perfectly acceptable point. You're the only one still mad about it.

No one's mad, I'm just making a point.

@bigray you're an extremely disrespectful person.
