Based on our debate, it is clear that Athens and Sparta had very different views about the purpose of a society and what they valued. Sparta valued military and discipline, while Athens valued learning and arts. In most aspects of life they pursued their goals very differently. To that end- What should the purpose of a society be? Was either Athens or Sparta "right" in terms of what they valued? What do you think society should value? Why?
