The production value was way too high for his lackluster delivery and pseudo-intellectual lyrics. There was hardly any noteworthy compound rhyming or impressive syllables.
Bottom line: Kendrick is good, but he sucks when you come from a rich background of hip hop. Hes only good because hip hop is utterly shit currently.
