Breakout star Rebecca Marie Gomez, better known as Becky G, took YouTube by storm in 2011 remixing then-current hits in her own style, rapping her own words over the songs, caught the attention of veteran songwriter/producer Dr. Luke who quickly signed the then-14-year-old to his own Kemosabe Records, an imprint of Sony Music Entertainment. Now 17, she announced on August 20 details of her debut album.
“We’re in finish-the-album time right now,” she explained to JoJo and Ellen K. “We have all the songs and lyrics and what-not. Now it’s just getting the final vocals and making sure everything is perfect.”
Becky G also stated she, and her label, plan for an October release, around the time she will be on Katy Perry’s Prismatic World Tour, October 10-18.
