One line that is bugging me is the "took an unexpected twist, like the neck of the freakin exorcist" can someone clear this up for me cause I thought it was the possessed girl's neck that twisted and not the exorcist?

Think of it like this, if you were listening to the acapella, you couldnt really nod your head to his rhythm. That's what I think his version of "off beat" means.
